Oficios de Belleza: Técnicas Prácticas y Emprendimiento Profesional

The Architecture of the Gaze

Eyes and brows frame the face. Subtle changes here have the most dramatic impact on a person’s appearance. These services are highly detailed and require steady hands and patience.

Lash Extensions

Applying synthetic fibers to natural lashes using medical-grade adhesive.

  • Classic (1:1): One extension on one natural lash. Natural «mascara» look.
  • Volume (Russian): Fans of 2-6 ultra-fine extensions on one natural lash. Fluffy, dramatic look.
  • Hybrid: A mix of both. Textured and wispy.

Key: Isolation is everything. You must isolate a single natural lash before placing the extension to prevent damage.

Lash Lift

A «perm» for eyelashes. Uses chemical solutions to curl natural lashes upward.

  • Pros: Low maintenance (lasts 6-8 weeks), no extensions to fall out, great for clients with straight, downward-pointing lashes.
  • Add-on: Always pair with a Lash Tint (dye) to darken the lashes for a mascara-free look.

Brow Shaping: Geometry & Morphology

Brows are not one-size-fits-all. You must map the brow to the client’s bone structure.

01

Mapping

Use a string or caliper to find the three key points:

  1. Start: Align with the dimple of the nose vertically.
  2. Arch: Align nose corner through the pupil.
  3. Tail: Align nose corner with the outer corner of the eye.
02

Hair Removal Methods

  • Waxing: Fast, clean lines. Good for fuzz. Caution with sensitive skin or retinol users.
  • Threading: Ancient technique using twisted cotton thread. Very precise, no chemicals/heat. Great for sensitive skin.
  • Tweezing: For final detailing and stray hairs.
03

Brow Lamination

A chemical process (like a lash lift) that relaxes brow hairs so they can be brushed upward and set. Creates the trendy «fluffy» or «soap brow» look. Covers gaps by repositioning hairs.

Profitability Analysis

Lash and brow services have some of the highest ROIs in the industry due to low material costs.

Service Time Material Cost Avg Price Profit/Hour
Brow Wax/Thread 15 min $0.50 $15 – $25 $60 – $100
Lash Lift + Tint 45 min $5.00 $70 – $90 $85 – $110
Full Set Lashes 2-3 hrs $10.00 $100 – $200 $30 – $60
Lash Fill (2 wks) 1 hr $3.00 $50 – $80 $47 – $77

Insight: While full sets of lashes take a long time, the recurring revenue from «fills» every 2-3 weeks creates a stable income baseline.
